An evaluation of the iPads from Mrs Hogans class:-
I have been using the i pads this week for graph work and we have used the Desmos app. Students have found it useful to do the following this week; check that the graphs they have plotted are correct, check that the equation they think belongs to a graph is correct, used it for 'quick plotting' to investigate the gradient and intercept of various different straight line equations.
I borrowed them for 2 lessons- the first I gave one to each table and got them to investigate the gradient and intercept, the 2nd lesson I did not give them out but told students if they wanted to take an ipad to check their work then to do so. All were used but not all pairs chose to take one, it was great to just be able to have them available for use (like I would suggest students use a calculator) without them being the focus of the lesson.
I have booked them again next week for work on perpendicular lines and I expect to follow a similar structure.
